ONE VOICE - BIRMINGHAM SINGING FIELD

Tree of Life presents an evening with Chloe Goodchild on Monday 12 March 2012 at Birmingham Buddhist Centre, 11 Park Road, Moseley, Birmingham B13 8AB. Within the sound of our One Voice are the keys to innumerable worlds. Chloe invites you into a participative field of deep presence, sound and song, inspired by a life-times' love affair with the contemplative, devotional and ecstatic voice. In this singing field "beyond ideas of right and wrong doing" we will re-discover our collective voice, as a vehicle for spirit, and a metaphor for living. Chloe will share her own compositions, improvisations and much-loved sacred chants inspired by the ecstatic love poetry of Rumi, Kabir, and Tagore.

SWORD & THE FLOWER WORKSHOP

Chloe will be running a workshop in Chagford, Devon on Sunday 12th February. It promises to be a very special workshop as she will be joined by long-time collaborator and friend Masashi Minagawa. If you haven't had the pleasure of working with Masashi before you are in for an incredible treat. Masashi is very special humble master of shintaido ('new body way') energy movement, with very accessible, empowering and joyous practices.

The Sword and the Flower will explore the masculine-feminine interface of voice, sound and energy movement as a spiritual practice and a metaphor for living. Their work together is very joyous, simple and accessible to everyone, regardless of age, culture or creed. You will leave the workshop with a range of spontaneous and structured, playful and in-depth listening, vocal and movement exercises that will energise every realm of your life.

As we move towards 2012 we are strengthening our collective commitment to realising the Naked Voice presence in the world, and to assist humanity in evolving a new consciousness of compassion. Our simple contribution to this process is the creation of a Sanctuary of Sound where people from all walks of life and cultures can find peace, sourced from the tools of deep listening and sound awareness. The Sanctuary of Sound heralds the 2012 Naked Voice annual 5 Day retreat. It offers a unique opportunity, a place of presence and transparency, with the essential 'time out' for people from all walks of life, and cultural backgrounds, to let their hair down, let go, relax and discover themselves in ways they never imagined possible.

This popular in-depth five day retreat brings together Naked Voice inquirers, practitioners, and facilitators from all over the world. Through a playful and profound process of deep non-judgemental listening, spoken and sung voice, we build a safe, supportive and sacred place, a Sanctuary of Sound, otherwise known as a Singing Field.

Sanctuary of Sound offers you new skills and practices to energise, nourish, and express your body-heart-mind, both outside in Nature, as well as in the magic stillness created in the Naked Voice 'Sanctuary of Sound' at Buckland Hall, Abergevenny. This wonderful residential centre will provide us. once again, with the most beautiful context for our unique work together, surrounded by beautiful gardens, some of the oldest trees in Europe, the panoramic Brecon Beacons, and Black mountains of South Wales. This stunning environment will inspire your journey - inwards and outwards - sustained by sound and silence, complete with mouth watering vegetarian food, open fires, teas and coffee on tap, and a selection of large and small rooms eg the library, the yoga room for body-work and silent sitting, and other spaces for dance, socialising and focused dialogue.

The retreat will introduce you to the full spectrum of your spoken, sung voice and 'naked voice' - exploring its personal, interpersonal and global significance, for the revelation of a new consciousness - facilitated by Chloe's Seven Levels of Sound & Modes of Love and Masashi Minagawa's Energy Movement and Nicholas Twilley's World Rhythm and Poetry. The Retreat Days will be divided between walks in the mountains, alongside dynamic and rigorous inner-outer work, exploring the human voice as a vehicle for spirit. The Naked Voice practices provide self-awareness listening skills and communication tools in which inquirers, committed practitioners and facilitators alike can deepen their understanding of their true nature or Self. Each day begins with a protocol of silent warm up exercises, breathwork and silent meditation.

Merlin's Diary recently ran a competition and two winners were picked out the hat to attend the Saturday of Chloe's Singing Fields of London workshop in June. Here is their feedback:

The sound was underpinned by Chloe playing the harmonium and leading beautiful healing, balancing sound. Thank you to all who were involved for a beautiful day."

Zannie Rose: "I had a wonderful time with the amazing Chloe Goodchild and her beautiful team.The morning began with goose bumps as we sang the first chant together and the goose bumps kept on going all day long. This innovative project to infuse the singing fields of London with the harmonics of the voices of love in unison is an opportunity not to be missed. PODCAST WITH JO BERRY

This month's Merlin's Diary podcast with founder Barry Durdant-Hollamby and fellow author Neil del Strother, features a remarkable lady, Jo Berry. Jo's father, Sir Anthony Berry, was blown up in the Brighton bombing in the 80s, and Jo has chosen to walk the road less travelled since that time, taking a path of humility, listening and acceptance that is an inspiration to all.
